On Great Keppel Island you will never get bored, with plenty of great spots and activities for all to enjoy. Just some of the activities and things to do on the island include:

You've just found the perfect holiday escape to relax and unwind, Its the beaches that really set Keppel apart from other Queensland Islands.

There are 17 pristine white sand beaches together with coral reefs, walking tracks & vantage points waiting for you to explore.

Snorkelling & Scuba Diving

Great Keppel Island is situated in the Great Barrier Reef and has many surrounding coral reefs with abundant fish and marine life, making for spectacular Snorkelling and Scuba Diving. You can hire snorkelling equipment from us explore the reef straight out off the beach. Don't be suprised if you find Nemo or a Turtle!

You're welcome to hire snorkelling equipment from us even if you're just at Keppel for the day.

For Scuba Divers or the more adventurous, Keppel Reef Scuba Adventures offers Dive and Snorkel trips to various dive sites around Great Keppel and neighbouring islands.

Beach Fishing

Beach Fishing

Great beach fishing is available on Fishermans, Putney and Leekes Beaches with seasonal runs of Whiting, Trevally and Flathead. Putney Point can offer larger pelagic species. Be sure to grab a Marine Park Zoning Map from us and ask where the fish are biting.

We have Fishing Rods and Equipment available for hire. You're welcome to Hire equipment or buy some bait from the Lodge even if you're just at Keppel for the day.

Bush Walking & Scenery

From a gentle sunset stroll on Fishermans Beach to an all day hike out to the light house, Great Keppel has an extensive variety of beach & bush walks for all ages and fitness. Pick up one of Carl Svendsen's track maps and head off for a beach picnic or snorkelling excusion.

Watersports

The Fishermans Beach Watersports has Catamaran & Kayak hire, Waterskiing & Tube rides available.

Glass bottom boat tours and Cruise packages (including Boomnetting and Snorkelling) are also available. Book with Freedom Fast Cats prior to arriving at the island, or at the Rainbow Hut on the island.

  • Keppel Haven Bar & Bistro is open 7 days a week offering Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
  • The Rainbow Hut offers All day breakfasts, Snacks & Drinks.
  • Island Pizza specialises in gourmet style pizzas. Check the noticeboard for opening times and menu.
